Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and LET US RUN with endurance the race set before us, LOOKING UNTO JESUS, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." I am not ready but thankful!

It is a week until we celebrate Thanksgiving. I feel like this year the holidays have just pounced upon me. I am so not ready! No fall decorations have gone up, pumpkins are still sitting right where we put them when we came home from the pumpkin patch.... on my front porch uncarved... untouched.... Thankful tree in still in the bin in the garage, and I haven't baked a thing yet. I mean a few days last week I was in shorts and flip flops which hasn't helped with the holiday feel :)!!!
This week however I was bound and determined to get into the holiday spirit. Better late than never I guess. Our normal history and science was put on the shelf to be replaced with craft supplies and thanksgiving books from the library. Instead of a thankful tree that we fill up the whole month of November, we are making thankful turkeys. I have all these wonderful dreams and ideas of what I want to do for the holidays in making memories and traditions ( pinterest doesn't help :) But in reality right now a good day is having my family fed, homeschool done and the house somewhat picked up. It is amazing how 4 kids has really changed my priorities! Also the things that have happened the last few months have shown me it isn't the things in life that are so important but the people... So this week before thanksgiving instead of worrying about decorating my mantel to look like my pinterest pin I want to worry about my filling my mind with reminders of what I am thankful for and decorating my heart with praise and joy to the giver of all things!

A few things I am thankful for tonight....

~ Time to sit with the house quiet (minus my barking dog) with kids sleeping soundly- and for the first time in months write out my thoughts... to blog!

~ I am thankful for trials because they remind me of what is important in life. That life is short and no one is promised tomorrow. That God's glory and strength is most seen in my weakness.

~ I am thankful for His word. Even though I haven't been treasuring it as I should lately, His mercies are new every morning.

~ I am thankful for my husband who's growth in the last few months has convicted and encouraged me!

~  I am thankful for interruptions because they remind me that I may plan my day but it is God who is directing my steps.. and interruptions aren't really interruptions but are God's sovereign deliveries :)

~ I am thankful for my undecorated house because it means one less thing to have to dust or clean :)

PS 100 "A Psalm for Thanksgiving. Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth. Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the LORD Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the LORD is good; His loving kindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations."
